Crops company, a frozen food manufacturer, wanted to shelter its offices and related functionalities in new premises.
Squeezed between industrial buildings aimed at manufacturing and storing frozen food, the construction has been shaped taking into account following specific features:
The site faces a flat landscape in which a canal outlines a strong line attracting the eye.
Water and its reflection bring brightness; boats suggest motion and time.
The boat metaphor conveys this confrontation and recalls to mind the company origins: fishing.
The building stands out against the ground, floating like a boat on the water. To get a greater sense of lightness, volumes have been cut into a thousand of leaves, emphasizing sight and light.
Visitors need to climb a narrow foot-bridge to enter the break between materials and surfaces.
Scenography encourages encounters and presentation. The building is a simple, sensitive and coherent response aiming at resulting in the expression of an industrial memory, place and activity.
